Kara Stephens

Versatility, experience and creativity are the trademarks of Kara Stephens and her work. Kara rose through the film ranks via the camera department, starting off as a PA for James Cameron on “True Lies” before moving up to the position of Cinematographer. Along the way, she has worked as a Visual Effects Coordinator for Academy Award winning director Kathyrn Bigelow, edited hour long reality shows for the Auction Network and has worked as a colorist on numerous documentaries and shorts, including the Telly Award winning free-diving documentary, Sink Faze. After years of running various camera, grip and electric departments, Kara shifted her focus to producing, directing and editing. Over the years Kara has amassed credits from such networks as Bravo, Discovery, Velocity, Speed, Fuel, MTV and has produced, filmed and edited for such companies as Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Monster Energy, and Space X. Recently Kara has been directing the hit Velocity show “Inside West Coast Customs” and has written, produced, directed and shot both the season 1 and 2 show opens.

Kara has organized shoots around the country and the world. She is well versed in all aspects of filmmaking from pre-production to post-production, from creating stories to lighting a set, to editing a show through finishing. Always on time and within budget, Kara has a firm grasp on how to create a great, creative show from concept to air.
